Name: Luis Valenzuela

Organization: Los Angeles Police Department

Alleged Bad Behavior: Luis Valenzuela entered a no contest plea on February 26th, 2018 to two counts of forcible rape and two counts of forcible oral copulation.  Luis Valenzuela was accused of forcing LAPD drug informants and recently arrested drug offenders to have sex and oral sex with him and his partner, James Nichols.  This allegedly would occur in an unmarked patrol vehicle and one would act as a lookout while other raped the victim.  At least one victim claimed she was assaulted with a gun by Luis Valenzuela. 

Result:  Luis Valenzuela was charged with more than a dozen felonies and was facing a life sentence.  The prosecution dismissed all charges except two counts of forcible rape and two counts of forcible oral copulation and a 25 year sentence.

Name: James Nichols

Organization: Los Angeles Police Department

Name: Braxton B. Shaw

Organization: Los Angeles Sheriff's Department

Alleged Bad Behavior:  Braxton B. Shaw allegedly wrote a police report that was inconsistent with the body camera he was wearing.  In 2016, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office declined to file perjury charges against Braxton B. Shaw for providing testimony that was inconsistent with the footage from the dash camera on his patrol vehicle.

Result:  Braxton B. Shaw was placed on administrative leave, no criminal charges have been filed as of January 14th, 2020.

Name: Nicole Mehringer

Organization: Los Angeles Police Department

Alleged Bad Behavior:  Nicole Mehringer was allegedly found passed out in the front passenger seat of an unmarked LAPD vehicle.  The vehicle was discovered after it had crashed on April 27th, 2018.  Audio and video phone recordings from the incident may have been destroyed while in police possession.

Result:  Nicole Mehringer was charged with a misdemeanor public intoxication.  This was later dismissed in court.  She was fired from the LAPD but is seeking to be reinstated.

Name: James Kelly

Organization: Los Angeles Police Department

Alleged Bad Behavior:  James Kelly was allegedly found passed out in the driver seat of an unmarked LAPD vehicle with his seatbelt on and hands on the wheel.  James Kelly was later found to have a blood alcohol concentration of .28 percent.  He was subsequently arrested for driving under the Influence.

Result:  James Kelly plead guilty to driving under the influence.  He was later demoted by the LAPD.
